Falling Into the Zen of Fall

Autumn leaf zen

Whoops, I’m back from what feels like death, a rabbit hole, a hamster wheel on steroids. In six years of blogging this has never happened to me. Sure it might be 3 am but I’m pump out another blog post. Easy peasy. But then 3 am would roll around and be on deadline  for other work, paying work , other obligations and this passion project would be given the slip, yet again. I have no answers. No solutions. But I do know, this fog of time will pass. The sun will make me squint again and if the gods are willing, I’ll play and post. In the tarot, there is a card called the Hanged Man. The fellow is upside down  hanging by one foot. It’s a cards of letting go, of surrender and that’s where I’ve landed.

A few weeks ago, the setting sun back lit a large red maple leaf in my garden. It glowed with such ferocity and life force, I wanted to share it. Life is never about one leaf but a collective whole, all somehow inter-connected.  Maybe there is a profound message from “falling into the Zen of fall”  for you, but maybe sometimes a leaf is just a leaf.

See you soon, I hope.

  1. The colors of Fall can be so stunning they almost make your heart ache…..the maples are the most amazing I think but they all sometimes take my breath away from the beauty.

  2. That is such a beautiful photo, Layla.

We can only do what we can do. The Internet is the hugest thing ever and nobody is used to how huge a demand it places on our time.

    Oh, and the real world.

Just take care of yourself and only do what you can do.

    Every day my goals are:
    Edit (my freelance job)
    Walk/GYM
    Read on my Kindle
    Work on 1 manuscript.
Maybe listen to movies or music in the background while editing.
    Oh and eat food
    and meditate.

It takes me hours to do all those and sometimes I have to cross off one or more items.

Eating and meditating are not options to lose, nor is listening to music or movies (or watching them) but editing is something I can’t always face. Difficult and time consuming.

    Take care.

    1. You’ve always had a sensible approach. I need to exercise more.
