Summer Solstice Ritual Bath Magic

Summer Solstice Ritual Bath Magic by Layla Morgan Wilde

The Summer Solstice, a time of vibrant energy and abundant light, is a perfect opportunity for a sacred ritual bath. While water is the main element, it includes all the elements. Here’s how in 6 steps.

By harnessing the power of timing, herbs, flowers, and crystals, you can create a transformative and rejuvenating bathing experience. It’s an easy process, allowing you to align with the solstice energy and deepen your connection with yourself and the natural world.

This bath is designed to take place in an indoor or outdoor bathtub. It can be modified for a hot tub or a natural body of water from a pond to the ocean.

Consider also a less watery, forest bathing, the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, which involves immersing yourself in the healing atmosphere of a forest.

Find a quiet spot, sit or walk mindfully, and allow your senses to be enlivened by the sights, sounds, and aromas of the forest. Take deep breaths and absorb the positive energy of the trees and plants. Pay attention to the vibrant colors, the songs of birds, and the rustling of leaves. Let yourself be present in the moment and appreciate the beauty around you. Dip your hands in a puddle, walk barefoot on a mossy patch, feel raindrops fall from tree branches onto your face.

  1. Setting the Stage:
  • Choose the optimal time: Plan your ritual bath close to the moment of the Summer Solstice, typically around June 21st. This year in 2023, it takes place at 1:58 am ET. The moon will be in sunny Leo. You can align your bath with the sunrise, noon, or sunset, depending on your preference.
  • Create a sacred space: Cleanse your bathroom and create an ambiance with candles, soft lighting, and calming music. Consider adding sacred symbols, such as crystals or spiritual artifacts, to enhance the sacredness of the space.

  1. Selecting Herbal Allies:
  • Sun-associated herbs: Choose herbs that resonate with the solar energy of the Summer Solstice. Some examples include chamomile, lemon balm, St. John’s Wort, rosemary, lavender, mint and calendula. These herbs promote relaxation, healing, and spiritual connection.
  • Infusing the water: Prepare your bathwater by infusing it with your chosen herbs. You can create a sachet or loose herbal blend and steep it in hot water. Once steeped, strain the herbs and add the infused water to your bath.
  1. Inviting the Essence of Flowers:
  • Floral companions: Select flowers that embody the energy of the sun and represent abundance and joy. Opt for vibrant blooms such as sunflowers, marigolds, roses, or orange blossoms.
  • Floating petals: Scatter fresh flower petals on the surface of your bathwater. As you soak, visualize their essence infusing the water and enveloping you in their uplifting energy.
  • Hydrosols like rosewater are very gentle for even the most delicate skin. Add 1/2 cup just before entering. If using essential oils, dilute a total of 10 drops in a tsp of vegetable oil. Swish well to mix before entering. Sunny Solar Blend. Citrus oils like lemon and orange (2 or 3 drops), 3 drops lavender and 3 drops Benzoin. If you have questions, ask me. 1. Amplifying with Crystals:

  • Solar crystals: Choose crystals that resonate with the sun’s energy and the intentions you wish to set. Citrine, sunstone, clear quartz, and carnelian, yellow calcite, tiger’s eye, red jasper are excellent choices. Their radiant energy can enhance clarity, creativity, and manifestation.
  • Placing crystals: Prior to entering the bath, arrange your chosen crystals around the bathtub or place them directly in the water .Their vibrations will mingle with the water, supporting your intentions and energetic alignment.
  • Add 1/2 of Epsom salts to your bath water for extra purification.
  1. Cleansing Ritual and Intention Setting:
  • Pre-bath cleanse: A ritual bath isn’t about scrubbing the grime off. If you feel especially sweaty or stinky, have a shower first. Before entering the bath, take a few moments to cleanse your energy. You can smudge yourself with sage or palo santo, or perform a quick visualization of releasing any stagnant energy.
  • Intention setting: Invite or invoke any spirit guides, angels or power animals you work with. State your intentions aloud or silently in your mind. Focus on what you wish to release, manifest, or embrace during this solstice period. Visualize your desired outcomes and imagine the water cleansing and purifying your body, mind, and spirit.
  1. Embracing the Sacred Bath:
  • Soak and surrender: Immerse yourself in the bath, allowing the infused water, flowers, and crystals to envelop you in all 6 senses. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and let go of any tension or stress. Surrender to the transformative energies of the solstice. Sip a glass of your favorite beverage.
  • Meditation and reflection: Use this time for introspection, meditation, or simply being present with yourself. Reflect on the blessings in your life, express gratitude, and open yourself to insights and inspiration.
  • Affirmations and prayers: Speak affirmations or recite prayers that resonate with your intentions. Let the vibrations of your words infuse the water and resonate within you.
  • Soak for at least 20 minutes. Dry yourself off with a freshly laundered towel and slip into clean, comfortable clothes.
